Why is your slogan “affordable access to knowledge?"

The price of textbooks is outlandish for everyone. This is a problem in the western world, let alone in the developing world. By publishing digital textbooks we can provide access to superior quality books at around 80% or more below the cost of traditional print books. Our discussion forums and features that we will add in the future will also enable our users to have access to all types of information. We are also open to making special provisions for individuals and groups in the developing world.

Can I access the features of the site without buying a book?

Yes. You only need to register. You can read the blog, invite friends, access the learning resources, and participate in “Pubs" or discussion forums. We will be adding more features in the future.

What kind of books do you publish?

We publish academic e-textbooks that are primarily intended for students and professors in post-secondary institutions. The range of books goes from PhD dissertations and theses to textbooks to more specialized volumes on specific subjects.

What subject areas do you publish in?

Our subject areas are continuing to expand and we are engaging agents to secure volumes in any language.

How do I buy books?

You must first register on the site. Once you have registered you may buy digital textbooks or rent them if you are a student. They are read using our proprietary reader online.

Why do you not allow me to download the book?

In order to provide books at the best value we need to ensure that people do not copy and distribute the books freely. After all, we are providing the volumes at less than 20% of what you would pay for a comparable volume in a more traditional print text.

Can I take notes on my books?

Yes. When reading your book you can click the tab “Make Notes". You can copy your notes to your word processor to print them.

Can I bookmark my books?

Yes, as well as share on social networks.

How does the student discount work?

If you are currently enrolled as a student in a post-secondary institution you just need to provide your program information when you register. You are eligible to purchase designated textbooks at a substantial discount from our already incredibly low value. You will have access to the textbooks for 150 days from the time of purchase. If at any time you decide that you would like to have unlimited access to the textbook, you can click“Upgrade" for that textbook under “My Library" and you will be prompted to pay the difference between our regular value and the student discount.

Are professors eligible to receive free examination copies?

Yes. You must first register on the site and provide the phone number for the institution where you teach. The phone number is only necessary because in some cases we cannot verify from the website of your institution that you teach there. When you register you may choose up to three subject fields for your teaching areas in order to receive free e-textbooks.

What are “Pubs"?

A Pub is our term for a discussion forum. There are discussion forums for each book and you can start your own on an academic subject.

Who can publish with Scholar's Publisher?

We are looking for authors who have a specialty in an academic field. Normally our authors have a PhD. In some cases we will publish an author who is a PhD candidate. In all cases we use the recognized system of double-blind peer review, which means that we have two scholars who are experts in the field evaluate a blind copy of the book to determine whether it meets the expected standards for quality. Please do not submit a book if you do not have the expected qualifications.

How do I submit a book for publication?

Once you have registered you can click the “Publish With Us" button in “My Library" and fill out the form. You may also submit to book@scholarspub.com, but we would want other details about the book as well, such as: a summary, the intended audience, chapter titles, whether your book uses computer technology or the internet to enhance its usefulness, and suggestions for referees to examine your volume.

How long does it take to publish a book?

You can expect to hear within two months whether your volume has been accepted for publication. The length of time after that will depend on how ready your volume is. If it requires substantial editing, then it may take up to several months more. We encourage authors (especially new authors) to have someone read your manuscript before submitting. This is particularly important for someone writing in a second language.

Do you provide editing services?

Yes. Depending on the amount of editing required we would arrange for an amount to be deducted from your royalty or provide a very cost effective service for those requiring acopyedit. If your volume is submitted in “camera-ready" format there would be no deduction.

What languages are publications in?

There is no limit to the languages we can publish in because we just need you to provide the manuscript. In practical terms it is more convenient to publish volumes written in Engllish, French, or German for the academic community. If you have a volume written in another language the process would take longer because we would need to secure qualified reviewers to assess the volume in that language and then qualified editors to ensure the volume is ready for publication.

How do I rate a book?

Only people who have purchased a volume may assign a rating to it. You will be able to rate a book from 1-5 stars when the feature is ready and you open a book in our reader.

What kind of features will you add to the site in the future?

In the future we will be adding many more interactive features like email, chat, blogging, games, instructional videos, links to other resources, and ability for scholarly research groups to have secure access to host and share their research among members. You will also be able to upload your own documents (such as unpublished papers and course information) as well as videos (such as giving a paper or teaching).
